EDB and AlmaU to expand cooperation in the sphere of professional development for civil servants in Kazakhstan and the Bank's member states

Almaty, 25 June 2026 – The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and Almaty Management University (AlmaU) signed a Cooperation Agreement on the sidelines of the EDB's Annual Meeting and Business Forum. The agreement was signed by AlmaU President Assylbek Kozhakhmetov and Maria Pavlova, Head of the EDB Academy.

The three-year agreement provides for the pooling of efforts to develop and implement training programmes on key Bank topics using AlmaU's specialized lectures, workshops, and trainings. The programmes will focus on improving the qualifications of government officials from the Republic of Kazakhstan and other EDB member countries, and will be held both in person and remotely.

A key element of the partnership will be the integration of the EDB's applied economic expertise into the academic environment. The Bank's experts intend to share their accumulated experience, expertise, practical cases, and lessons learned from project activities in key economic sectors. The agreement will help standardize approaches to training professionals involved in the implementation of integration projects in Eurasia.

"There's always a demand for high-quality applied knowledge in the public sector," noted Maria Pavlova, Head of the EDB Academy. "Together with AlmaU, we want to do more than just deliver a course of lectures; we want to share with public administration managers the tools the EDB has accumulated and tested in real projects over its 20 years of operation."

"For AlmaU, this is a partnership with a unique provider of practical knowledge about Eurasian economy. Our students and trainees will gain access to real-world cases, while government agencies will gain professionals prepared to work with the tools used by international financial institutions - without any retraining," added Asylbek Kozhakhmetov, President of AlmaU.
