EDB Increases Financing for Uzum to $100 Million
Tashkent, 5 October 2026 — The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and Uzbekistan's national digital ecosystem Uzum are expanding their cooperation: financing for the ecosystem has been increased from $70 million to $100 million. The Bank continues to support the development of Uzbekistan's digital infrastructure.
The initial loan agreement was signed in May 2026. It became the EDB's first investment in Uzbekistan since the country joined the Bank.
The additional financing will support Uzum's fintech business and help scale digital financial services for individuals and small and medium-sized businesses across the country. In 2026, Uzum Bank led the market in bank card issuance growth, with more than 50% of orders on the Uzum Market marketplace already paid through the ecosystem's own financial services.
Sergey Ignatov, Senior Managing Director of the EDB:
"Expanding our partnership with industry leaders reflects our plans to grow our activities in Uzbekistan. Digital platforms are one of the key elements of economic infrastructure. By financing their growth, we are not just supporting a single company — we are investing in the region's technological connectivity and in access to financial services for millions of people."
Jasur Jumaev, founder and CEO of Uzum:
"Increased financing from one of the region's largest financial institutions is first and foremost a confirmation of the results we have achieved in recent months and of investors' confidence in our strategy. We are building fintech infrastructure on a national scale, used daily by millions of people. It is particularly important to us that, as Uzum grows, so does the volume of international capital flowing into Uzbekistan's digital economy."
Today, Uzbekistan remains one of the fastest-growing digital markets in Eurasia. The growing share of cashless payments, the expansion of digital banking services and a highly engaged young population are creating conditions for further growth of the fintech sector and the digital economy as a whole.
