11 September 2026, Rasht District, Tajikistan. President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, during a working visit to the Rasht Valley, inaugurated several infrastructure facilities and reviewed the project to construct the Labidjar– Kalaikhum road. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is financing the construction of a 10-kilometre section of the Labidjar–Kalaikhum route.

The Labidjar– Kalaikhum road will have a total length of approximately 125,5 kilometres. The project is of strategic importance for the development of Tajikistan’s transport infrastructure, strengthening regional connectivity, and creating conditions for further socio-economic development in the country’s mountainous areas.

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan instructed the relevant authorities to ensure high-quality and timely construction, taking into account the challenging mountainous terrain, secure additional financing, and accelerate project implementation.

The official event was attended by Vladimir Yakunin, EDB Director for the Republic of Tajikistan and Parviz Kuliev, EDB Project director for the Republic of Tajikistan.

The EDB financing is supporting the development of one of the key sections of the road. The project is expected to improve access to transport infrastructure for local communities and businesses, while enhancing the safety and quality of road connectivity.
