Xinhua Agency - EDB and ESCAP signed a memorandum of understanding
ALMATY, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) — The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Almaty to promote regional development and integration. «The memorandum laid the foundation for our cooperation and it will further promote regional economic integration, the development of transport infrastructure, energy efficiency, water management and environmental protection, as well as the development of partnership in other areas of mutual interest,» Shun-ichi Murat, deputy executive secretary of ESCAP said after signing the document. «ESCAP has entered into a partnership with the EDB to promote sustainable and inclusive development in Central Asia», he said. The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of an economic forum and the eighth session of the Governing Council of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA).
