Construction and operation of a 148.5 km street lighting network in Atyrau under a Batys Transit JSC project
Project overview
The 148,525 m street lighting project in Atyrau is the fourth phase of Batys Transit JSC's PPP programme to build and operate the city's street lighting networks. It plans to install 5,000 poles, 5,000 LED luminaires, 75 outdoor lighting control cabinets and 20 prefabricated transformer substations, and lay 170,000 m of 0.4 kV overhead lines and 5,000 m of 10 kV cable lines.
Integration effect
The project does not contribute to economic integration between the Bank's member states.
Contribution to the SDGs
Based on the data presented, the project may increase economic output, create jobs and raise tax revenue. It also supports Kazakhstan's infrastructure development.
Additionality and investment mobilisation
The Bank provides financing unavailable in the market. The project is expected to use a PPP structure, a Bank priority, mobilise private capital and include the borrower's own investment. It is being implemented under government programmes.
Environmental impact
Under the Bank's Environmental and Social Responsibility Policy, the project is classified as Category B: potentially significant local environmental and social effects that are generally reversible or preventable.
