The EDB invites international organizations, development banks, and experts to contribute to the development of the E-Handbook – an electronic knowledge platform on international financial institutions
Almaty, June 25, 2026. The Eurasian Development Bank is launching a new analytical product – ‘E-Handbook: System of International Financial Institutions.’ This is an open information and analytical platform focused on multilateral development banks. It brings together analytical materials, databases, dashboards, media resources, and educational content. The E-Handbook was unveiled during the EDB’s Annual Meeting and Business Forum in Almaty.
International financial institutions play a significant role in addressing global and regional development challenges. Given the current state of the global economy, the system of international financial institutions is in particular need of new ideas, practical solutions, and collaboration.
There are more than 200 such institutions worldwide, including funds, insurance and guarantee mechanisms, development agencies, export-import banks, and multilateral development banks. Multilateral development banks (MDBs) occupy a special place in this system due to the scale of their operations, the diversity of their instruments (ranging from lending to advising governments), and their investments in building the capacity of borrowing countries. There are 37 multilateral development banks worldwide, which invest approximately $200 billion annually.
‘Today, the system of international financial institutions needs not only capital and financing instruments, but also a high-quality knowledge infrastructure. The EDB E-Handbook is a platform that brings together data, analytics, expert opinions, and educational materials on MDBs and other development institutions in a single open digital space. We want the platform to help foster a better understanding of the role of these organizations, identify best practices, and discover new opportunities for cooperation in the Eurasian region and beyond,’ commented Evgeny Vinokurov, Vice Chairman of the Management Board and Chief Economist of the EDB.
During the presentation, Evgeny Vinokurov discussed the platform’s objectives and its significance for fostering expert dialogue. Anton Malakhov, Head of the Center for International Finance Analysis, explained how the E-Handbook is structured and how to use the resource.
The EDB’s new platform is designed to make information about international financial institutions more accessible to the expert community, government agencies, the business sector, experts, and anyone interested in development finance issues.
On the platform, users can access up-to-date information on the activities of development institutions, their instruments, development prospects, challenges facing countries, and practical solutions proposed by development institutions.
The resource also provides a foundation for expanding professional discourse on the role of international financial institutions in sustainable development and regional cooperation.
The EDB invites experts from international organizations, educational institutions, and research centers to publish their own research on the new platform. To do so, please fill out the application form on the E-Handbook.
