The Kyrgyz Post issues a commemorative stamp dedicated to the EDB's 20th anniversary
Almaty, 26 June 2026 – The Kyrgyz Post has issued a special postage stamp dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB). The first copy was ceremonially cancelled during the EDB's Annual Meeting and Business Forum, thus marking the official release of the anniversary issue into postal circulation.
The ceremony was attended by Bakyt Sydykov, Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Nikolai Podguzov, Chairman of the EDB Management Board. A special cancellation postmark with the release date was applied to the first stamp.
The release of the commemorative stamp has become yet another symbol of the long-standing partnership between the EDB and the Kyrgyz Republic that has been a member of the Bank since 2011.
Bakyt Sydykov, Minister of Economy and Commerce, congratulated the Eurasian Development Bank on its 20th anniversary and noted the importance of cooperation with the Bank for the Kyrgyz Republic. He noted that the EDB unites not only financial resources but also professionals focused on achieving common goals and unlocking the region's potential. The Minister expressed confidence in further strengthening of the partnership for the benefit of all member states and wished the Bank prosperity, successful implementation of new tasks, and strong and mutually beneficial cooperation between the countries.
"It is a great honour for us that the EDB's 20th anniversary is marked by the issuance of a special postage stamp. We are truly grateful to the Kyrgyz Republic and our colleagues from the Kyrgyz Post for this testimony of respect for the Bank’s activities. It is particularly symbolic that this event happened in the year of the 15th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan’s membership in the EDB. Over the years, we have jointly implemented dozens of projects aimed at developing the economy and improving life standards. I am confident that our cooperation will continue to strengthen and open up new opportunities for the sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan and the entire Eurasian region," noted Nikolai Podguzov, Chairman of the EDB Management Board.
The ceremonial cancellation is one of the most celebrated traditions in world philately; it is held in honour of the release of postage stamps dedicated to memorable events or anniversaries. A special cancellation postmark with the date of issue adds special historical and collectible value to the first copies.
