Tigran Sargsyan is appointed Deputy Chairman of the EDB Management Board

Moscow, 23 March 2020. Tigran Sargsyan has been appointed Deputy Chairman of the Eurasian Development Bank’s Management Board.

Tigran Sargsyan was born on 29 January 1960.

In 1983, he graduated from the Leningrad Financial and Economic Institute and in 1987 completed a post-graduate course at the same institute with a thesis entitled Planning for Regional Socio-economic Development: The Case of Armenia and was awarded a degree of candidate of economic sciences.

From 1987 to 1990, Tigran Sargsyan was junior and then senior researcher at the Research Institute of Economics and Planning under the State Planning Commission of the Armenian SSR.

Between 1995 and 1998, he served as President of the Association of Banks of Armenia, and from 1998 to 2008 he was Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia.

From 2008 to 2014, Tigran Sargsyan was Prime Minister of Armenia.

Between 2014 and 2016, he served as Ambassador of Armenia to the U.S. 

In 2016–2020, he was Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission

From February to March 2020, Tigran Sargsyan was Advisor to the Chairman of the Eurasian Development Bank’s Management Board.

Tigran Sargsyan was awarded the 1st degree Medal of Services to the Motherland by a decree of the President of Armenia and the Medal of Anania Shirakatsi. 

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev awarded him the Order of Friendship. 

President of Russia Vladimir Putin also awarded Tigran Sargsyan the Order of Friendship.

The President of the Kyrgyz Republic awarded him the Dank medal. 

Tigran Sargsyan holds the degrees of Honorary Doctor at the Armenian State Economic University, St. Petersburg State University of Economics, and Gumilyov Eurasian National University, as well as the title of Honorary Professor at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.
