Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, instructs to set up a joint task force for digital projects initiated by the EDB Fund for Digital Initiatives
Bishkek, 20 February 2023. Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the President’s Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, suggested at today’s meeting with Tigran Sargsyan, Vice Chairman of the Eurasian Development Bank’s (EDB) Management Board and Supervisor of the EDB Fund for Digital Initiatives Fund, that a joint task force should be set up to work on joint digital projects with the Fund for Digital Initiatives, including the Kyrgyz Republic’s participation in the Work in the EAEU and COVID-19-Free Travel mobile app projects.
Akylbek Japarov’s instruction to set up such a task force is intended to support the implementation of a memorandum that was signed today between the Fund for Digital Initiatives and the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the memorandum, the Fund will help to develop digital solutions for public administration and e-government services in the Kyrgyz Republic. The parties will also participate in designing digital solutions for digital cooperation and transformation of the light industry, health tourism and jewellery trade and promoting digital infrastructure in the country.
In addition, the Fund for Digital Initiatives will support and participate in the development of digital solutions for health, migration and tourism.
“Thanks to support from Mr Japarov, Head of the Cabinet of Ministers, and Mr Imanov, Minister of Digital Development, we are starting our cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic to foster digital transformation. This includes the launch of projects to create cross-border Eurasian digital ecosystems and develop them in the Kyrgyz Republic. The Fund for Digital Initiatives worked with the country when it launched its COVID-19-Free Travel app that made it possible for Eurasian citizens to travel safely in the midst of the pandemic and that cooperation was a success. Now we plan to transform and develop that product. I think the next step will be Kyrgyzstan’s joining the Work in the EAEU platform, which simplifies labour migration and makes it more comfortable,” said Tigran Sargsyan.
