Almaty to host an international business forum to discuss development in Eurasia
Almaty, 26 June 2024. The Eurasian Development Bank’s (EDB) Annual Meeting and Business Forum will take place on 27–28 June in Almaty, Kazakhstan. This event will bring together representatives from multilateral development banks, international organisations, businesses, the research community, professional associations, and journalists from various countries to exchange experiences, discuss important topics and outline pathways for joint development in Eurasia.
The forum aims to expand partnerships and share practical solutions for addressing key regional challenges, including water and energy balance, development of transport and logistics routes, and financial markets.
“We continue to create platforms for international dialogue to attract new investments in the Eurasian region and Central Asian countries. I am confident that the EDB Annual Meeting and Business Forum provides an excellent opportunity to pool the efforts of multilateral development banks, international organisations and private businesses, share experiences in project implementation, establish new contacts and expand cooperation in sustainable finance,” said Nikolai Podguzov, Chairman of the EDB Management Board.
The Business Forum will commence with an opening ceremony, to be followed by a dynamic programme addressing critical development topics:

Islamic Finance in Central Asia: This session will discuss the development of the financial market and new instruments in the region.

Water, Energy and Food in Central Asia: Partnerships and Projects for Sustainable Development: Participants will explore the interrelations of these key sectors for sustainable development in Central Asian countries.

The Eurasian Transport Network: Potential, Challenges and Solutions: This session will cover the future of infrastructure, key projects and innovative approaches to transport development in Eurasia.

The EDB’s Investment Instruments: Results and Prospects: This session will showcase the Bank’s ongoing and completed projects in Eurasia and its investment plans for the region.

Digital Technology and Innovations for Eurasia: Discussions will focus on digital transformation, unique digital projects and their impact on the region, as well as cross-border digital projects and initiatives with integration effects.

Eurasian Economic Union: Results and Prospects of Investment Project Implementation: This session will review the implementation of the EAEU 2025 Development Strategy and discuss the Declaration on the Further Development of Economic Processes until 2030.
The EDB Annual Meeting and Business Forum will also include presentations of expert reports such as Promoting High Environmental and Social Standards in Central Asia: EDB Experience and Lessons Learned, Water and Sanitation in Central Asia and The Eurasian Transport Network.
Additionally, the event will feature high-level meetings, signings of cooperation agreements and business talks, enriching the programme and providing a platform for the exchange of views and experiences.
