Almaty, 30 June 2011. In accordance with Resolution No. 590 of Armenia’s Prime Minister Tigran Sarkisyan, dated 27 June 2011, Armenia’s Minister of Finance Vache Gabrielyan is appointed the country’s plenipotentiary representative to the Eurasian Development Bank’s (EDB) Council.
Previously, this position was held by the country’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan.
Brief Biography:
Vache Gabrielyan was born in Yerevan in 1968. In 1990, he graduated with honours from the economic cybernetics department of Yerevan State University. In 1990-1992, he took postgraduate courses at the same university.
In 1990-1992, Mr Gabrielyan was an expert at the Standing Commission for Financial, Credit and Fiscal Policy at the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Armenia.
In 1992-1998, Mr Gabrielyan took courses at Rutgers University (New Jersey, the U.S.), where in 1994 he received a master’s degree and in 1998 a Ph.D. in public administration.
In 1994-1998, while taking Ph.D. courses, Mr Gabrielyan was a lecturer at the departments of public administration and political sciences at Rutgers University and a deputy director at the university’s National Centre for Public Performance.
Since 1998, Mr Gabrielyan was a lecturer at the economics department of Yerevan State University and the political sciences department of the American University of Armenia. He is the author of a number of scientific works which were published in Armenia and abroad.
In 1998-1999, Mr Gabrielyan was an adviser to the President of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA).
From 1999 to 2008, he was a member of the CBA Board.
In 2008-2010, he was a Vice President of the CBA.
On 17 December 2010, Mr Gabrielyan was appointed Minster of Finance of Armenia.
