Belarusian Deputy Prime-Minister Andrei Kobyakov Appointed to EDB Council

Almaty, 16 August 2010. In accordance with Resolution No. 1121 dated 28 July 2010 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Belarus, Deputy Prime-Minister Andrei Kobyakov was appointed authorised representative of Belarus in the EDB Council, and Nikolai Snopkov, Minister of the Economy of Belarus, was appointed his deputy.

In 1983 graduated from the Moscow Ordzhonikidze Aviation Institute and in 1991 from the Belarusian Kuibyshev State Institute of the People’s Economy and the Institute of Political Science and Social Management. Has the qualifications of mechanical engineer, economist, political scientist and teacher of social and political sciences. Started working at the Vavilov Plant in Minsk as machine assembly department foreman. In 1985-1995 worked at the Diaproyektor Plant in Rogachev, Gomel Oblast, as chief foreman and then deputy director for economics.

1995-1996: Deputy Head of the Presidential Control Service.
1996-1998: Deputy Chairman of the State Control Committee of Belarus; Chairman since December 1998.
1998: President of the State Light Industry Goods Production and Distribution Concern.
2000: Government’s representative in Belpromstroibank.
2000-2001: First Deputy Prime-Minister of Belarus.
On 21 September 2001 resigned with the rest of the Belarusian Cabinet.
On 24 September 2001 appointed Deputy Prime-Minister of Belarus.
2002-2003: Minister of the Economy of Belarus.
Since December 2003: Deputy Prime-Minister of Belarus.

Married with two children.

Snopkov, Nikolai Gennadiyevich, born 1969 in Mogilyov.

In 1991 graduated from the Belarusian Agricultural Academy and in 2001 from the Presidential Academy of Management.
1990-1994: economist, chief economist and accountant at various farms in Mogilyov and Grodnensk Oblasts.
1994-1996: economist, chief economist and deputy head of the Dribinsk Branch of Belagroprombank.
1996-2000: Deputy Chairman for Economics, Market Relations and Privatisation of the Goretsk District Executive Committee.
2000-2007: Head of the Financial Department of the Mogilyov Oblast Executive Committee.
2007-2009: Deputy Chairman of the Mogilyov Oblast Executive Committee.
Since January 2009: Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Belarus.
Since 2009: Minister of the Economy.
