Construction of Polotsk HPP on the Western Dvina River is completed
Belarus, Polotsk, 2 July 2019. Vitebskenergo has successfully completed its investment project to construct Polotsk HPP on the Western Dvina River, supported by the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB). After the plant’s maintenance period ended, Vitebskenergo and Technopromexport signed a certificate confirming the completion of their contract. The EDB had extended a US $80 million loan for the project.
Polotsk HPP, with a capacity of 21.75 MW, was commissioned on 30 June 2017. The general contractor was Technopromexport.
“Financing renewable energy projects is one of the Bank’s priorities. The EDB and Vitebskenergo arranged effective communication while financing the construction of Polotsk HPP. We look forward to continuing our fruitful work in the area of power generation in Belarus,” said Vsevolod Smakov, Member of the Management Board and Head of Industry and Energy.
