09 July 2014

Moscow, 9 July 2014. Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) will hold the 9th International Conference on Eurasian Integration in Moscow on 9 October 2014. The invitees include heads of authorities of the Customs Union and Single Economic Space countries, the Eurasian Economic Commission, foreign experts, and representatives of CIS businesses and academia.

The main objective of the conference will be to search for further ways to advance Eurasian integration in the context of the Agreement on the Establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), which will begin to function on 1 January 2015. The participants will discuss the main areas of cooperation in key economic sectors, the creation of common transport and energy infrastructure, uniform technical regulations, and the interrelated labour market and educational space.

The panel session will bring together experts and representatives of integration institutions, who will discuss possible areas of cooperation and interaction between the EEU and the European Union.

The preliminary programme of the conference includes topical sections such as non-tariff barriers in the EEU, the development of financial support mechanisms for energy conservation and energy efficiency projects, social aspects of integration, and prospects for infrastructure development, including based on PPP mechanisms. EDB research projects will also be presented at the working sections. Significant attention will paid to the harmonisation of labour and migration laws, and the coordination of industrial and innovative development in EDB member states.

EDB conferences have become an effective instrument for communication and exchange of information between financial institutions, authorities, and businesses of the Bank’s member states. Conference discussions and resulting recommendations help devise new approaches to the Bank’s investment policies.

The organisation committee invites participants to the conference. Proposals with the names of nominated participants should be sent before 15 September 2014 to sterligova_ym@eabr.org. The programme of the conference and other related information will be available on www.eabr.org.
