EDB Chairman Igor Finogenov Addressed 65th Session of UN General Assembly
New York, UN, 13 December 2010. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is prepared to actively cooperate with organisations whose goals are to create conditions for full economic development and realising the economic potential of the Bank’s member states – this was the core message of the speech delivered by Igor Finogenov, Chairman of the EDB Executive Board, at the 65th session of the UN General Assembly dedicated to the UN’s interaction with international organisations.
“We believe that joining the Eurasian Development Bank opens new opportunities for a country to attract long-term investments in the most important national economic projects”, said Igor Finogenov. “We select investment projects from the perspective of the Bank’s mission: to promote integration and competitiveness of the member economies”.
Having mentioned that many international organisations are working to this end, the EDB Chairman pointed out the importance of cooperation and coordination between them for achieving a synergy effect of their efforts. “We need to develop and implement interaction mechanisms capable of bringing about tangible results”, stressed Igor Finogenov.
The EDB Chairman informed the General Assembly of the Bank’s experience of cooperation with international organisations such as EurAsEC, International Aral Rehabilitation Fund, UNDP, UN EEC, ESCATO and SPECA.
