EDB delegation takes part in a road show for the Toktogul HPP rehabilitation project (Phase 2)
Bishkek, 29 September 2015. On 28-29 September 2015, the delegation of Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) took part in a road show for the Toktogul HPP rehabilitation project (Phase 2) organised by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the Kyrgyz Republic.
EDB plans to invest US $100 million in the project. The money will be provided by the Eurasian Fund for Stabilisation and Development (EDB manages the fund's resources).
The road show envisioned the provision of information about the project and a report by the technical advisor on project fulfilment specifics. The participants discussed possibilities to reduce the project schedule. At present, the project is planned to be completed in 2025.
EDB representatives met with Valery Dil, Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sohail Hasnie, Principal Energy Specialist, Central and West Asia Department at ADB, and Rie Hiraoka, Country Director, ADB Kyrgyz Republic Resident Mission, to discuss the project.
The event was visited by potential equipment suppliers from Japan, China, Russia, Germany, and the UAE.
The Toktogul HPP is the largest hydropower plant in the Kyrgyz Republic. Making it operable at full capacity will increase power generation by 20%. This will help to increase electric power supplies to the domestic market, which are needed to meet Kyrgyzstan's internal demand and improve its export potential.
