EDB Published Eurasian Integration Yearbook 2011

17 August 2011

Almaty, 17 August 2011. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) published its annual Eurasian Integration Yearbook 2011. The e-version of the publication is available at www.eabr.org, in Research and Publications.

The Bank’s research is focused on economic integration, the functioning of the Customs Union, the establishment of the Common Economic Space, and economic cooperation between the CIS and EurAsEC member states. These issues are covered in a wide range of the Bank’s publications.

“In this English-language publication we have tried to collect the most interesting materials on fundamental and practical issues of the post-Soviet integration. The global audience knows little about integration processes in our region. Our yearbooks aim to fill this niche,” says Evgeny Vinokurov, Director of the EDB Centre for Integration Studies and editor of the yearbook. “Previous issues were well accepted, they are often quoted and have been delivered to hundreds of libraries all over the world.”

The fourth issue of the yearbook is another result of the extensive research accomplished and coordinated by the EDB. The Bank hopes that this publication will acquaint global researchers and economists with the most interesting articles published in Russian. Igor Finogenov, Chairman of the EDB Executive Board, says, “The Bank invests significant funds in research of regional economic integration. This was confirmed by opening of the Centre for Integration Studies this June in St. Petersburg.”

The authors of the yearbook are the Bank’s researchers and leading specialists from the CIS countries. They discuss the issues ranging from mutual trade and investments in the CIS countries during the economic crisis, the institutional development of the Eurasian Economic Community, labour migration and remittances, to the prospects for integration of the stock markets of Russia and Kazakhstan, and integration processes in the telecommunication sector.
