EDB publishes a book of paintings of young artists from its member states
Almaty, 12 December 2012. Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) has published Art Uniting the Continent a collection of works by 48 young artists from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
«The idea of this book is not accidental,» says Maxim Savitsky, Director for Marketing Communications and Public Relations at EDB. «We wanted to show the life in the Banks member states through the prism of art.»
EDB, in cooperation with art academies of the six countries, selected and included in the book prominent works created in recent years. All authors are talented artists whose works deserve to be shown to the general public and not simply be part of museum or private collections. All of them are young people with a fresh perspective and vision and an ability to depict the moods of the world around them in a contemporary and vivid manner.
In addition, these works demonstrate the commonalities that connected and continue to link the countries in the region a unique space populated by nations that have been neighbours for ages, traded with each other and exchanged their best creations. This is how the common Eurasian culture formed.
«The works presented in this book are different in terms of genre, forms, style and manner, but they all have one thing in common they reflect the reality and unveil the emotional life of these countries. They are also witnesses to the history our peoples create individually and collectively in our common vast and diverse Eurasian space,» Maxim Savitsky emphasises. «This is concordant with the values and aspirations of our Bank. Having been created by the countries of the region and being a result of their cooperation, EDB helps the nations to build their sustainable and safe future and strengthen their friendship.»
The book is a limited edition. It is not intended for sale and the Bank will use it for presentation purposes. If it arouses interest, the Bank will consider a possibility to print additional copies and arrange an exhibition of the works included in the book.
