EDB takes part in the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund

Almaty, 15 October 2013. Igor Finogenov, Chairman of the Management Board at Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), and Sergey Shatalov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, took part in the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington last week.

In the U.S. the EDB delegation had talks with top officials of a number of international institutions, including:

WB — Laura Tuck, the recently appointed Vice President for Europe and Central Asia (ECA), and Hans Timmer, Director of the Development Prospects Group;

IMF — Nemat Shafik, Deputy Managing Director; Reza Moghadam, Director of the European Department; and Masood Ahmed, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department; and

Asian Development Bank — Lakshmi Venkatachalam, Vice-President, and Todd Freeland, Director General of the Private Sector Operations Department.

Igor Finogenov also co-chaired the presentation of EDB’s joint research with the WB titled Diversified Development of the CIS Countries.

He also had meetings with finance ministers of some member states of the Bank.

In addition, the EDB delegation took part in the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting, which also took place in Washington. This forum discussed the recent changes in the global economy and the weaknesses of the financial sector, the reform of the international financial architecture, investment financing and the strengthening of the G20 process.
