EDB takes part in the Astana Economic Forum
Astana, 16 June 2017. Eurasian Development Bank's (EDB) delegation headed by Dmitry Pankin, Chairman of the Management Board, took part in the Astana Economic Forum (AEF). AEF is one of the leading world floors bringing together representatives of businesses and governments to discuss key economic issues.
In the sidelines of the forum, the Bank signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Business Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to promote partnership and long-term efficient cooperation aimed at preparing and fulfilling projects in the EDB countries.
Dmitry Pankin, Chairman of the Management Board at EDB, spoke at the following sessions: Transnational Cooperation on Production Capacity: A Bridge between “One Belt One Road“ and “The Path to the Future“; Future Outlook for Kazakhstan – Perspectives by International Finance Organisations; Improving Kazakhstan’s Investment Climate and Boosting International Competitiveness in Central Asia; and The Global Economy in the Era of Change: The Prospects of "Big Eurasia." The head of EDB also took part in the round table titled "Strategic Plan of Development until 2025 "National Technological Initiative" and other business events.
Speaking at the Forum, Dmitry Pankin emphasised that projects, in the first place in the area of trans-boundary infrastructure, should become an important factor in building "Big Eurasia." He also pointed out that the countries involved in major trans-boundary projects such as the Silk Road Economic Belt need to synchronise activity and investment programmes.
Maxim Korzhov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board at EDB, took part in the sessions titled Historical Competition between the Sea and Land in the Direction of East-West: "New Silk Road," and What Can Kazakhstan Teach the World?
Evgeny Vinokurov, Director of the EDB Centre for Integration Studies, participated in Green Economy Transition and Its Fiscal Consequences in Kazakhstan; Interaction of Transport and Logistics Operators. Multimodal Transportation. Transit. Benefits, Challenges (Barriers), Prospects; and Integration of the Transit and Water Potentials of "Big Eurasia."
The Astana Economic Forum is taking place on 15-16 June 2017 in Astana. It is an annual historical event in Eurasia. Each year the forum brings together representatives of the global economic community, current and former heads of state, winners of the Nobel Prize, and businesspeople.
