EDB Technical Assistance Fund Held Research Projects Competition

Almaty, 4 June 2010. The EDB Technical Assistance Fund (TAF) held a competition of research projects as part of its Regional Integration Studies Programme. 28 bids were received from Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The experts of the TAF Managing Committee reviewed the bids and selected six projects for financing.

The winner projects, including three teams and individuals from each Russia and Kazakhstan, are:

— The Regional Effects of the Global Economic Crisis on the CIS;

— Transport and Economic Growth in EurAsEC Countries in the Context of Integration: Theoretical and Practical Aspects;

— The Integration Role of Kazakhstan in the Development of EurAsEC’s Food Market;

— The Common Foreign Trade Policy of Customs Union Members: Development Prospects;

— EurAsEC: Possibility to Draw upon the EU Integration Model; and

— Educational Migration from Kazakhstan to Russia as an Aspect of Strategic Co-operation within the Customs Union.

In accordance with the competition terms, these studies must be finalised in 6-12 months. The Bank will publish the results of completed studies on its website and in the Eurasian Integration magazine.
