Eurasian Development Bank takes part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum
Saint-Petersburg, 02 June 2017. Eurasian Development Bank's (EDB) delegation headed by Chairman of the Management Board Dmitry Pankin took part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). SPIEF is a leading global floor where businesspeople meet to discuss key economic issues.
EDB signed a number of agreements in the sidelines of the forum.
- An agreement was signed with MedicalGlassStandard to build a medical and cosmetic glass plant in Moscow Region. Investment is expected to total up to RUB 4.8 billion.
- A cooperation agreement was signed with VEB to facilitate access to financial resources for initiators of promising projects and create a mechanism to assist businesses in the Bank's member states in intensifying mutual direct investment.
- EDB and the Government of St. Petersburg signed a letter of intent to construct the M49 highway and Suzdal Avenue. EDB is expected to invest around RUB 14 billion and RUB 150 billion, respectively.
- The Bank also intends to take part in financing an investment programme of Vodokanal of St. Petersburg. According to the letter of intent, EDB will arrange finance to the tune of up to RUB 60 billion, including its own funds in the amount of up to RUB 15 billion.
EDB's delegation had several business meetings and gave interviews to leading Russian and Kazakh media outlets.
The Chairman of the Management Board took part in the following sessions: The CIS – A Space for Developing Economic and Business Collaboration; Russia—Serbia: Perspectives of Economic Cooperation; Dialogue Between Business and Development Institutions: Dedication, Trust, and Effectiveness; The Mission of Multilateral Financial Institutions in the Global Economy; and Putting Long-Term Capital to Work for Infrastructure Development.
EDB's Chief Economist Yaroslav Lissovolik spoke at two sessions: BRICS: Boosting Economic Cooperation, and Europe in the Crossroads: Risks and Prospects.
Konstantin Limitovsky, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board at EDB, participated in Building the Infrastructure for Eurasia’s Future.
Evgeny Vinokurov, Director of the EDB Centre for Integration Studies took part in three sessions: The SCO and Prospects for the Development of Broad Eurasian Partnership; European and Eurasian Integration: Possibilities for a New Interface; and The Future Being Born Today: Integration and Infrastructure Projects in Eurasia. He also spoke at the session titled Creating a Common Economic Space. Challenges and Solutions of the International Conference on Developing Cooperation from Lisbon to Vladivostok that took place on 31 May in the framework of SPIEF.
The forum is taking place from 1 to 3 June 2017.
