Fifth EDB Eurasian Integration Conference Started in Almaty

06 October 2010

Almaty, 6 October 2010. The 5th EDB international scientific and practical conference on Eurasian integration started today in Almaty. The participants in this event are scientists and specialists, representatives of international and regional organisations, and the mass media.

Discussions will be held on the economic, financial and industry-level integration of the region’s countries with an emphasis on strategic approaches, anti-crisis measures by post-Soviet states, and prospective integration models for Eurasia. The conference’s programme also includes the issues of energy and food security, energy and resources saving, and assessment of the prospects for innovative co-operation between EDB member states.

“In the current development conditions in the region we are increasingly involved in coping with sizable integration tasks. The formation of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space are real examples of our co-operation in integration. These processes need practical support in the form of investment projects which further integration, private-public partnership, international scientific ties, and information exchange”, commented Vladimir Yasinsky, Member of the EDB Executive Board / Director of Research.

Future co-operation and analysis and development of practical proposals will require active participation of all interested parties which are to contribute to the region’s prosperity and successful development. Our annual conference provides an optimum forum for such discussions, says Yasinsky.

The participants will develop recommendations summarising the results of their two-day work. The materials of the conference will be published in the Eurasian Economic Integration magazine.
