On 13-14 October 2011 EDB Holds 6th International Conference “Customs Union and EurAsEC’s Common Economic Space: Prospects for Further Integration”

The sixth Eurasian Development Bank’s (EDB) International Conference “Customs Union and EurAsEC’s Common Economic Space: Prospects for Further Integration” will be held in Almaty on 13-14 October 2011.

The following sections will work at the forum:

  • Customs Union and Common Economic Space: prospects for enhancement;
  • Eurasian integration trends: theoretical and comparative contexts;
  • Labour and educational migration in the CIS;
  • Financial integration in the region;
  • Mutual investments and trade between the CIS countries;
  • Prospects for innovative development and high technologies: intercountry context;
  • Transport infrastructure integration (EurAsEC’s Comprehensive Plan);
  • Energy and energy efficiency;
  • Environmental and social aspects of investment activities in the Eurasian region; and
  • EurAsEC Anti-Crisis Fund’s activities and joint anti-crisis strategies in the region.

The participants of the conference will focus on the most important issues such as the summarisation of experiences of economic integration in the EurAsEC and CIS member states; search for new ways of multilateral interaction and cooperation between them; evaluation of prospects for the formation of the Eurasian Common Economic Space (CES); and coordination of anti-crisis measures in the countries of the region.

Leading researchers, experts and specialists from the EurAsEC and CIS member states are invited to take part in the forum.

The EDB’s conferences are usually planned so as to provide the broadest opportunities for constructive and free dialogue. These include reports (up to 15 minutes) and subsequent discussions.

The conference’s working language is Russian.

The most interesting and important reports will be published in the EDB’s Journal of Eurasian Economic Integration and its annual Eurasian Integration Yearbook.
