The Council of the Eurasian Development Bank Appoints Andrei Belianinov to the Position of the Chairman of the Management Board of the Bank

Almaty, December 1, 2017 – Andrei Belianinov has become the Chairman of the Management Board of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB). The resolution was passed at a regular meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) held in Astana on November 15, 2017.

The EDB Council meeting was attended: on the part of the Republic of Armenia, by V.S. Aramyan, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia; on the part of the Republic of Belarus, by V.V. Amarin, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Belarus; on the part of the Republic of Kazakhstan, by B.A. Sagintayev, Chairman of the Council of the Bank, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and B.T. Sultanov, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan; on the part of the Kyrgyz Republic, by A.A. Kasymaliev, Minister of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic; on the part of the Russian Federation, by A.G. Siluanov, Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation; and on the part of the Republic of Tajikistan, by A.K. Kurbonien, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan.

In the course of the meeting, the members of the Council of the Bank also discussed existing and potential areas of operation of the Bank, certain matters related to cooperation with international financial institutions, and implementation of joint integration projects.

Andrei Yuryevich Belianinov

Born on July 14, 1957, in Moscow (USSR). In 1978, he graduated from Moscow Institute of People's Economy named after G.V. Plekhanov, where he majored in Finance and Credit (Economist). In 2005, he was awarded a PhD in Economics, and in 2015, a PhD in Political Science. Upon graduation, Mr. Belianinov was invited to work at the KGB of the USSR. He worked in a number of foreign countries, and in the late 1980-es was posted to the USSR Embassy in the GDR (German Democratic Republic). 1992-1994: Deputy Chairman of the Board, REA-Bank; 1994-1999: Deputy Chairman of the Board, then Chairman of the Board, Novicombank. In 1999, he was appointed to the position of the General Director of Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FGUP) "Promexport". 2004-2006: Director, Federal Military Procurement Service. 2006-2016: Head, Federal Customs Service. Since 1 December 2017, Andrei Belianinov was appointed Chairman of the EDB Management Board.

Mr. Belianinov has numerous government and industry awards.

He is married, has a son and two daughters.
