Almaty, 29 March 2023. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and FONPLATA, a multilateral bank established by Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, discussed how they could cooperate to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Albrecht Conrad, Managing Director and Head of the EDB’s Directorate of Sustainable Development, and Luciana Botafogo, President of FONPLATA, met in Brazil on the sidelines of the Sustainable Cities Forum to discuss the work of multilateral institutions and their focus on emerging markets that have limited financial resources and are most vulnerable to climate change.

The sides agreed to continue the dialogue, start sharing experiences and knowledge, conduct joint research and participate in events that contribute to sustainable development projects.

In addition, Albrecht Conrad invited Luciana Botafogo to visit Almaty where the EDB will host a conference for major investors in infrastructure and ESG projects as well as the meetings of the Association of Development Financial Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP) on 15–17 May 2023.
