The EDB and Serbia discuss possible cooperation

St. Petersburg, 3 June 2021. Tigran Sargsyan, Vice Chairman of the Management Board of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), and Nenad Popović, Minister of Innovation and Technological Development of Serbia, met on the sidelines of SPIEF-2021.

Mr Popović outlined Serbia’s interest in joining the EDB and proposed to continue comprehensive negotiations to that effect.

The sides also discussed possible cooperation in the implementation of digital projects.

Tigran Sargsyan presented COVID-10 Free Travel, a project by the EDB Fund for Digital Initiatives, which has become a flagship solution in overcoming the effects of the coronavirus pandemic in Eurasia. Mr Popović expressed Serbia’s readiness to take active action to join the COVID-19 Free Travel platform in order to restore free movement of citizens between the two countries, which is of paramount importance and cannot be delayed at the beginning of the tourist season. He also presented the main digitalisation programmes and projects in Serbia.

The sides agreed to engage in an active dialogue on the whole range of topics related to digital and innovative development.
