The EDB and the AIFC to promote green finance in Belarus

Nur-Sultan, 22 July 2021. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), the Astana International Financial Centre Authority (AIFCA), and the Ministry of Finance of Belarus signed an agreement to promote green finance in Belarus using the AIFCA Green Finance Centre (a subsidiary of the AIFC Authority).

The parties have agreed to explore opportunities for cooperation on green finance projects, including sharing best practices and knowledge on investments in environmental and social projects.

“The agreement is important for the Eurasian Development Bank as it will contribute to a green agenda in the EAEU countries. We are glad to join our efforts in implementing joint projects in green finance and environmental protection,” said Amangeldy Issenov, Vice Chairman of the EDB Management Board. “As a leading development bank in the region, we would be interested in participating and assisting in the projects implemented by the AIFC and the Ministry of Finance of Belarus using our expertise and financial instruments.”
