Nur-Sultan, 16 May 2019. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and the International Green Technologies and Investments Centre (IGTIC) signed a memorandum of understanding to promote the transition to a “green economy,” including the introduction of new technology in the Eurasian Economic Union’s member states.

According to the understandings reached, the EDB considers financing joint projects and assisting in IGTIC’s medium- and long-term investment projects.

The memorandum also envisions that the parties will share experience, information and knowledge and take part in workshops, conferences, business forums and other events relating to the development of a “green economy.”

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is an international financial institution founded by Russia and Kazakhstan in January 2006 with the mission to facilitate the development of market economies, sustainable economic growth, and the expansion of mutual trade and other economic ties in its member states. The EDB's charter capital totals US $7 billion. The member states of the Bank are the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, and the Republic of Tajikistan.

The International Green Technologies and Investments Centre (IGTIC) was established based on the infrastructure and heritage of ASTANA EXPO-2017 by a Resolution of the Government of Kazakhstan on 27 April 2018, inspired by the First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, as part of the initiative announced in September 2017 during the 70th United Nations General Assembly.
