The EDB Director for Tajikistan discusses cooperation with the Aga Khan Development Network in Tajikistan

Dushanbe, 23 February 2022. Nikolai Nukulin, the EDB Director for Tajikistan, met with Kozidavlat Koimdodov, Resident Representative of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in Tajikistan. The sides discussed possible cooperation in various areas of the AKDN and EDB’s operations.

Nikolai Nikulin informed about the Bank’s five-year country strategy until 2026 aimed at facilitating Tajikistan’s sustainable development and accelerating regional economic integration.

He stressed that the Bank’s priorities in Tajikistan will be projects to promote green energy, reconstruct power grids within the Central Asian Power System, develop agriculture and agricultural processing, set up wholesale distribution centres, diversify manufacturing, facilitate private sector and entrepreneurship development, and support public and corporate digital initiatives.

Kozidavlat Koimdodov told about the AKDN, which has operated in Tajikistan since 1992. He also presented the network’s long-term investment programmes in the country that aim to stimulate foreign investment and strengthen the financial sector by establishing micro-credit organisations to promote entrepreneurship and by supporting small and medium-sized enterprises as well as the energy, telecommunications, and tourism sectors.

The sides agreed to develop cooperation in economic sectors of mutual interest. Further steps will be discussed at expert level in the near future.
