Moscow, 13 July 2021. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) has provided Air Liquide with long-term financing of about €100 million to set up energy-efficient production of industrial gases in Novokuznetsk (Russia).

Air Liquide is designing and building the plant and will then operate it and produce industrial gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, and argon for a major steel making plant. In addition, Air Liquide will also supply  the industrial gas market in Kemerovo region, Western Siberia. Oxygen, nitrogen, and argon are used in metallurgy and other industries. Since June, site operation is in commissioning.

“The new plant will be much more energy-efficient than previous technologies bringing obvious environmental benefits for Kemerovo region. The EDB always supports projects that introduce state-of-the-art technology in the Bank’s presence – Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan,” said Nikolai Podguzov, Chairman of the EDB Management Board.
