The EDB extends an additional RUB 6 billion for the construction of the Western High-Speed Diameter in St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg, 15 July 2020. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) extended RUB 6 billion to Western High-Speed Diameter (WHSD) to finance the construction of the central section, and operation of the northern, central and southern sections of the Western High-Speed Diameter motorway.
The EDB is a lender financing the construction of the Western High-Speed Diameter multi-lane motorway in St. Petersburg. The Bank has earlier provided an equivalent of RUB 10 billion for the project. At one of the stages, the EDB replaced the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which had provided EUR 200 million.
“The Eurasian Development Bank has extensive experience in financing the construction of modern and high-speed roads. Today, we are involved in the construction of several phases of the Central Ring Road around Moscow, as well as in the construction of the Big Almaty Ring Road. Expanding our participation in the WHSD is a very important stage for the EDB in developing St. Petersburg’s modern urban infrastructure,” said Timur Abdullakhanov, Head of Transport and Infrastructure at the EDB.
