The EDB Fund for Digital Initiatives finances the development of the International Skills and Professions Platform
Moscow, 18 May 2023. The EDB Fund for Digital Initiatives has financed the Professional Skills Development Agency (WorldSkills Russia) to set up the International Skills and Professions Platform.
This platform aims to provide access to professional development services and promote the best international standards, technologies, and skill models. It will also facilitate information exchange with potential partners and employers and support career advancement through skill assessment and development initiatives.
The project objectives are to:
- Promote the harmonisation of industry, national and international standards for skills, professions, and jobs (primarily high-tech ones);
- Facilitate talent search and development;
- Develop human resources for various industries;
- Ensure international/Eurasian mobility of human resources; and
- Create an international/Eurasian network involving technology providers, production originators, industrial and educational organisations, experts, and public authorities in developing skill models and job benchmarks.
The platform will have the following key components:
- Training and skill assessment;
- Organisational features; and
- Storage for activity results.
The project is expected to be completed within twelve months.
Potential platform users include three categories:
- Individual learners;
- Businesses interested in employee training; and
- Competence centres providing training.
The platform stands out in the market due to its unique objectives and services, as well as a strong integration component.

Since 2017, the Skills and Professions Development Agency has been promoting macro-regional cooperation in Eurasia based on the Declaration on the Establishment of Macro-regional Cooperation among Eurasian Countries and the Agreement on Cooperation among the National Training Agencies of the Above Countries signed at the initiative of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan on 25 August 2017.

The EDB Fund for Digital Initiatives, which is supervised by Tigran Sargsyan, Vice Chairman of the EDB Management Board, was established in June 2020. Its objective is to assist the EDB member states in creating digital transformation tools and practices by integrating their information resources and participating in the development and financing of projects. The Fund’s flagship project is the COVID-19-Free Travel mobile app used in nine CIS countries.
