The EDB Fund for Digital Initiatives strengthens cooperation with the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of artificial intelligence

The Fund for Digital Initiatives of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digitalization of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the auspices of the Digital Qazaqstan forum held on March 27 in Shymkent.
The document calls for development of a strategic partnership in the field of artificial intelligence technology introduction and digital project support. Among the key areas of cooperation are the search for and implementation of joint AI projects, the exchange of expertise, as well as strengthening the potential of the parties as centers of competence in the field of AI.
The signing of the Memorandum will be an important step in deepening the partnership and will bring cooperation to a new level in line with the country’s strategic objectives for AI development.
During the forum, Vice Chairman of the Management Board Tigran Sargsyan held a working meeting with Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digitalization of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhaslan Madiyev: the parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation, priority projects and tools to support the introduction of artificial intelligence in key sectors of Kazakhstan's economy.
Tigran Sargsyan noted that 2025 was a record year for the Bank in terms of the number of projects implemented in Kazakhstan aimed at digitalizing public administration, developing platform solutions, and introducing artificial intelligence.
In turn, Zhaslan Madiyev expressed his gratitude to the Fund for its support and proposed creating a registry of Kazakhstan’s open-source e-government component solutions for their further replication across EDB member states.
The Eurasian Development Bank keeps consistently supporting both the digital transformation of its member states and the development of artificial intelligence technologies throughout the region.

The EDB Fund for Digital Initiatives (FDI) was established in June 2020. The purpose of the Fund is to assist in the formation of tools and practices for digital transformation of the EDB member countries, including through the integration of information resources and participation in the development and financing of projects. The Fund's flagship project, the COVID-19-Free Travel mobile app, is now being successfully used in 9 CIS countries.
