The EDB launches settlements in the Kyrgyz som

Bishkek, 5 July 2018. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) opened a correspondent account for domestic payments in the Kyrgyz som with the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.

“We hope that the opening of the account in the Kyrgyz som will help to enhance our operations in the Kyrgyz Republic under the Bank’s strategy, which aims to support domestic financial markets of the Bank’s member countries,” Dmitry Ladikov-Roev, Managing Director for Assets and Liabilities at the EDB, commented.

He added that the Bank had already opened correspondent accounts in the national currencies with the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia and the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus this year. In addition, the Bank provides settlements in the tenge and Russian roubles through the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, respectively. In 2018, the EDB also plans to open a correspondent account with the National Bank of Tajikistan to access transactions in the somoni.
