The EDB meets with representatives of Uzbekistan’s financial market

Tashkent, 13 September 2024. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) met with regulators, partners and other representatives of Uzbekistan’s financial market in Tashkent. The event titled New Horizons for Investments was attended by representatives from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, Central Bank and the Toshkent Republican Stock Exchange. During the meeting, the EDB presented its opportunities and plans for financial and investment markets, as well as medium-term macroeconomic trends in the Eurasian region. Topics covered included water resources, economic development prospects and the sustainability of the region’s infrastructure projects.

Daniyar Imangaliyev, Vice Chairman of the EDB Management Board, delivered a presentation titled The Driving Force of the Region. He highlighted that in recent years the EDB, as a development institution, has significantly strengthened its position in its operating region, with its current investment portfolio reaching US $4.9 billion and its cumulative portfolio totalling US $15.4 billion.

Arman Ahunbaev, Head of the EDB Centre for Infrastructure and Industrial Research, presented a report on medium-term economic trends in Eurasia. He noted that EDB countries maintain a high level of business activity, with their aggregate GDP growing by 4.5% during the first half of the year, following 3.9% growth in 2023, the highest growth rate in 13 years.
