The EDB purchases Batys Transit’s bonds for a total of KZT 11.57 billion as part of the approved project to finance public-private partnership projects and refinance a part of Batys Transit’s bond issue

18 January 2019

Astana, 18 January 2019. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) purchased Batys Transit’s bonds for a total of KZT 11.57 billion, offered at Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) as part of Batys Transit’s first issue of infrastructural bonds (ISIN KZ000A0T88N8, trading code BTTRb1).

The financial adviser and broker for the purchase was Kazkommerts Securities.

As a result of the transaction, the current holders of Batys Transit’s bonds are the Eurasian Development Bank and KEGOC, one of the issuer’s shareholders.

The proceeds from the initial bond offering will finance a concession project to build the North Kazakhstan – Aktobe Region interregional power transmission line. The project is in the power sector, which is one of the Eurasian Development Bank’s priorities. It has significant socioeconomic effects for the development of Kazakhstan’s western region as it will help to reduce the price of electricity for end consumers, ensure stable supplies, upgrade equipment, and promote social development.
