The EDB takes part in UNESCAP sessions on sustainable economic transformation in North and Central Asia
Moscow, 25 September 2020. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) took part in UNESCAP sessions on sustainable economic transformation for SDG attainment in North and Central Asia. Bank representatives joined expert groups to consider and discuss the ESCAP Subregional Office’s working papers prepared taking into account both long-term development goals and short-term COVID-19 related perspectives.
Anna-Maria Chkoniya, Specialist of the EDB Department for Research, took part in preparing the paper entitled Realising Digital Potential in North and Central Asia for Sustainable Economic Transformation. The paper underscores the importance of digital transformation in the region. At the session, the expert group prepared a list of proposals on the respective cooperation strategy to realise digital potential.
The results of the session and the paper are expected to feed discussions during the 2020 United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) Economic Forum and help to identify areas for further research.
