The EDB to develop the Working in the EAEU app to facilitate labour migration
Almaty, 5 February 2021. The Eurasian Development Bank’s Digital Initiative Fund (EDB DIF) will develop a dedicated mobile service, Working in the EAEU, by early 2022. This was announced by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at the Digital Almaty forum.
The Working in the EAEU app is designed to bridge the digital divide, create a comfortable working environment in the countries of employment, and strengthen integration ties within the Union.
The app will provide a wide range of government and commercial services even before one enters the country of employment: a job seeker can complete the necessary documents for employment, find and respond to a vacancy, rent accommodation, arrange insurance, obtain a loan for relocation and accommodation, and get a job.
The platform is being developed with the needs of users in mind, as well as the need for ease of use. Reminders, calendars, and electronic “assistants” will make using with the app much easier.
“Digitalisation ensures a seamless process for migrant workers to receive government, commercial and financial services across the EAEU. This is a breakthrough in building a single labour market and promoting further integration among our countries. For example, even before a prospective employee arrives in the country, he or she will be able to register with pension insurance and tax authorities, find and apply for a job, rent accommodation, buy an insurance policy, obtain a loan to move and settle in, and get a job,” said Nikolai Podguzov, Chairman of the EDB Management Board.
