The EDB to organise ADFIAP 46th Annual Meeting
Moscow, 26 October 2022. As proposed by the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP) will host its next Annual Meeting in Kazakhstan. The event will take place on 17–18 May 2023 in Almaty.
The ADFIAP Board of Directors approved the hosting of the 46th Annual Meetings by EDB in Almaty, Kazakhstan during its 93rd Board of Directors Meeting held in Manila, Philippines, last October 26, 2022.
The ADFIAP Annual Meetings is the largest gathering of CEOs of multilateral development banks and development institutions from 38 Asian and Pacific countries. The ADFIAP is a non-governmental organisation in consultative status with the United Nations’ Economic and Social Council. Its mission is to advance the region’s sustainable economic, environmental and social development and growth.
EDB became a member of ADFIAP in June 2022.
“The ADFIAP also aims to contribute to the development of Central Asian countries. It is one of the most promising and fastest-growing regions. According to our estimates, over the past 20 years, Central Asian countries’ GDP has grown more than sevenfold, and at an average rate of 6.2%, which is faster than in developing countries and more than twice as fast as the world as a whole. That said, the further unlocking of the countries’ potential depends largely on private investment and major multilateral programmes, which need the involvement of international development institutions. The ADFIAP and its Annual Meeting can become a platform to discuss new joint projects among its members in Central Asia and the EDB member countries,” said Nikolai Podguzov.
