Tigran Sargsyan: The pandemic has highlighted the importance and effectiveness of digital solutions

Moscow, 19 February 2021. Tigran Sargsyan, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), speaking at the opening of the workshop Russia and Europe: New Challenges for Economic Cooperation and Overcoming the Pandemic, emphasised the importance and effectiveness of international digital solutions in the context of the global spread of the virus.

“The pandemic has shown how important and effective digital solutions can be in responding to crises and this effectiveness will grow significantly with closer international collaboration around the common agenda,” said Tigran Sargsyan at the event organised by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Banca Intesa.

Tigran Sargsyan also stressed to the importance of joint action by governments, businesses, and supranational institutions in overcoming the consequences of the pandemic. He emphasised the value of cooperation at the supranational level in ensuring coordinated action by integration alliances to support economic recovery and sustainability.

Tigran Sargsyan told about the measures taken by the EDB to support economic activity and about the work of the Bank’s Digital Initiative Fund in developing digital solutions to overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic and restrictions.

Other speakers at the workshop were Veronika Nikishina, General Director of REC; Sergey Katyrin, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Pasquale Terracciano, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Russia; and Alexander Shokhin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
