Vice Deputy Chairman of the EDB Management Board receives an award for contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s financial system

Nur-Sultan, 28 December 2021. Amangeldy Issenov, Vice Chairman of the Eurasian Development Bank’s (EDB) Management Board, was awarded a special badge, 100th Anniversary of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan and 30th Anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence. 

The badge 100th Anniversary of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan is a commemorative award for all those who have contributed or are contributing with their daily hard work to the development and promotion of Kazakhstan’s financial system.

In 2021, the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan celebrated its 100th anniversary. In 1921, a decree was passed approving the structure and staffing of the People’s Commissariat for Finance of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic. The badge also marks the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence.

Before joining the EDB, Amangeldy Issenov headed the Budget Lending Department of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Finance. In mid-2017, he was appointed as the EDB Managing Director for Business Development. In 2018, Mr Issenov became a member of the Bank’s Management Board and was then appointed Vice Chairman of the Management Board.

Under his leadership, the EDB’s investment portfolio in Kazakhstan has been enriched with landmark transport, infrastructure and energy projects that have a social and economic impact on the country’s development.

The projects received several international awards. For example, the EDB’s financing of the Big Almaty Ring Road (BAKAD) received the prestigious PFI Awards in project finance as Europe’s Transport Deal of the Year. The Atyrau street lighting project also won the prestigious international Environmental Finance’s 2021 IMPACT Award in the energy category.
